The career shift
The role the GenAI era is creating.
The shift that's already happening
IT fresher roles are shrinking. One role is rising fast.
↓ 44%
Fewer entry-level tech job openings in India than a year ago.
↓ 15-yr low
Under-30 share at India's largest IT firms — the lowest in 15 years.
↑ 130%
Growth in Forward Deployed Engineer hiring in India over the past year.
AI now does much of the routine coding and testing IT freshers were hired for. The demand is moving to one role that spans the whole problem — and that is the opening.
The opportunity
Why the FDE is your opening, as an IT fresher
A higher ceiling
Entry FDE roles pay around ₹10–18 LPA in IT-services AI practices and climb with experience and company type — a role with room to grow, not a dead end.
AI-proof by design
The FDE is judgement across five disciplines. GenAI augments the role — it doesn't replace it.
Early-mover advantage
Firms grow FDEs from the engineers they already have, and only about 1,200 are fully qualified in India today. Build the skills early and you're the one they pick.
One career, five roles
BA, Architect, Programmer, Tester, DevOps — in one person. Broad, durable, and hard to automate away.
The role, decoded
An FDE is multiple roles in one — consultant and engineer
The role began at Palantir and is now hiring fast at OpenAI, Anthropic and across Indian IT. Think of a good doctor, for a business: careers used to climb slowly from the solution space (building what others decided) to the problem space (deciding what the business needs). The FDE spans both — and builds the fix with AI. It's a 5–15 year climb, compressed.
Multiple roles, one person
with AI augmenting each
Enquire
Listen to the customer. Empathize with their world. Decode how the business actually works.
Diagnose
Find the real problem behind the complaint.
Fix
Build the solution, using AI — agents, data, integration.
Observe
Watch it work in production, and own the outcome.
Five roles — BA, Architect, Programmer, Tester, DevOps — now expected in one person, with AI augmenting each. A degree trains you for one slice. A degree alone doesn't get you there. A transformation does.

Questions students ask
Before you decide
What is a Forward Deployed Engineer?
An FDE plays two roles in one — the consultant and the engineer. They work directly with a customer to understand the real problem, then build and deploy the fix — today, usually with AI. One person spanning what used to be BA, Architect, Programmer, Tester and DevOps work.
Will this workshop make me an FDE?
No. Becoming an FDE takes 9–12 months of hands-on work on real problems. This one day shows you what the role demands, where you stand, and your roadmap if it fits.
Do IT freshers get hired as FDEs?
Honestly, most FDE roles today ask for experience. Large IT services firms are growing FDE teams largely from engineers they already have. The realistic IT fresher path: build the skills early, so you are the one picked.
What happens after the workshop?
Your Blueprint points to a structured 9–12 month FDE program. If you want help choosing the right one, book a 1-1 counselling session.
I'm not from Computer Science. Can I attend?
Yes. Any engineering branch, or MCA. Knowing a business domain is an advantage in the problem space. Basic programming helps, but isn't required.
